Housing Package, New Contribution Cycle and Cybersecurity – OCC

Our Partner, Catarina Belim, participated as a speaker in the training programme “Housing Package, New Contribution Cycle and Cybersecurity“, organised by the Portuguese Chartered Accountants Association (Ordem dos contabilistas certificados). 

The programme, which will reach more than 20,000 Chartered Accountants, began on 30 June and comprises a nationwide series of in-person sessions taking place in more than 20 locations across Portugal, continuing until 20 July. 

During the training, Catarina Belim presented the latest VAT developments, with a particular focus on the new tax measures applicable to the housing sector. The sessions have been highly interactive, generating extensive discussion on the practical implications of the new rules, particularly regarding the VAT reverse charge mechanism in the construction sector and the application of the reduced VAT rate to construction and rehabilitation works for residential properties intended for sale or affordable residential rental. 

At BELIM, we remain committed to sharing knowledge and supporting the consistent and up-to-date application of tax legislation. As the new rules begin to be implemented and the first practical challenges emerge, we look forward to sharing more information on their interpretation and practical application.
