Visas and Residence Permits

Visas and Residence Permits

We provide legal advice to individuals in obtaining visas and residence permits in Portugal. Our approach integrates the legal immigration framework with tax implications, ensuring a coordinated, strategic, and client-tailored service.

We have experience advising citizens of the European Union, the European Economic Area, and Switzerland in obtaining the EU Registration Certificate, as well as in the legal framework applicable to their family members.

For third-country nationals, we advise startup founders, highly qualified professionals, digital nomads, and investors, namely in the following procedures:

  • Visa applications with a view to obtaining a residence permit, in particular:
    • D1 Visa – employed professional activity;
    • D2 Visa – independent professional activity or for entrepreneurs;
    • D3 Visa – highly qualified professionals;
    • D7 Visa – passive income holders or retirees;
    • D8 Visa – digital nomads (remote work, either employed or independent); and
    • Residence permit for investment purposes (Golden Visa);
  • Family reunification; and
  • Renewal and modification of residence permits.

Our services cover the stages of the process that take place in Portugal before the competent authorities (namely AIMA), and we also provide guidance during the initial consular stage whenever applicable. We further support clients with ancillary relocation procedures, such as obtaining a tax identification number (NIF), registering with social security, and opening a bank account.
